PEBAX (polyether block amide) is a high-performance thermoplastic elastomer composed of hard segments of polyamide and soft segments of polyether. Medical thick-walled tubing refers to tubing with a large wall thickness as a percentage of its outer diameter, typically with a wall thickness of 0.2 mm or more, or a wall thickness/outer diameter ratio exceeding 10%. Compared to thin-walled tubing, thick-walled tubing has the following characteristics:
High radial support: It can resist external pressure and is not easily crushed.
High resistance to kinking: It does not easily flatten when bent.
Excellent thrust performance: It can effectively transfer thrust from the near end to the far end.
Good dimensional stability: minimal deformation during heat treatment and secondary processing.
Wide range of adjustable hardness: from Shore A 74 (very soft) to Shore D 72 (firmer) in various grades.
A balance between flexibility and strength: combining the strength of polyamide with the elasticity of polyether.
Good biocompatibility: suitable for in vivo implantation and contact.
Excellent processing performance: suitable for various processes such as extrusion, injection molding, and thermoforming.

A key technological advantage of thick-walled pipes is that they can achieve a gradual change in hardness on the same conduit through multi-hardness co-extrusion or segmented welding.
When navigating a simulated arterial system, the PEBAX-based catheter requires approximately 50% less propulsion force than nylon and polyurethane catheters (510.4g vs. higher values for other catheters). This significantly reduces the difficulty of the procedure and the risk of vascular damage.
Guidance tube:In cardiovascular and neurointerventional procedures, pathways are established for devices such as balloons and stents.
Long sheath:Provides more durable support for neurointerventions and complex coronary interventions.
Delivery system: used in transcatheter aortic valve replacement, endovascular repair of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms, etc.
Angiography catheter:Used for coronary and peripheral angiography diagnosis.
Balloon catheter:As the axis of the balloon catheter.
PEBAX medical thick-walled tubing, with its adjustable hardness, balance of flexibility and strength, and excellent biocompatibility, has become a core component of interventional devices requiring high support performance, such as guiding catheters and delivery systems. Through its multi-hardness gradient design, radiopaque modification, and multi-layered composite structure, it provides reliable access and support for complex interventional procedures.
