| The three-lumen catheter for ERCP stone retrieval balloons is used in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) procedures. It is mainly designed for the removal of single-channel stones inside and outside the liver, and is particularly suitable for small-diameter stones (usually < 10mm) located relatively superficially. | ![]() |
Its medical application scenarios are divided into three categories:
Direct Stone Retrieval:
For small, non-embedded stones with soft texture, the balloon is delivered to the area below the stone via the catheter. After inflating the balloon, it is slowly pulled out to bring the stone out of the bile duct.
Auxiliary Lithotripsy:
When the stone is too large to be retrieved directly, the balloon of this catheter can first fix the stone's position. Then, a lithotripsy basket is used to crush the stone, and the balloon is employed to remove the crushed stone fragments.
Bile Duct Cleaning and Inspection:
After stone retrieval, the inflated balloon can be used to clean residual stone fragments or bile sludge in the bile duct. Meanwhile, the balloon can also be used to dilate the stenotic segment of the bile duct, measure the intraluminal pressure of the bile duct, inject contrast medium, and assist in confirming the patency of the bile duct.
